The Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia is undergoing an extensive renovation and will become a U.S. flagship. Following the completion of the property’s transformation, the hotel will contain all Crowne Plaza Accelerate hallmarks including WorkLife guestrooms and a Plaza Workspace with 3 Studios. On February 22, 2018, the Crowne Plaza brand was named the Marketing Awards for Excellence’s Grand Winner for the Plaza Workspace concept, which launched in June 2016 and created a new idea of what it means to work on the road for hotel guests. According to the organization, the MAX Awards (Marketing Awards for Excellence) “recognizes the creative genius of marketers and marketing in Georgia. Presented by Robinson’s Department of Marketing and the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the MAX Awards program is considered the most prestigious marketing awards event in Georgia. The awards honor the best in new products, services and ways to market developed in a designated calendar year. Entries are judged on the criteria of innovation, great marketing support, and marketplace success.” We’re proud to accept this award and look forward to future innovation within our brand and beyond. Agile has transformed the way IHG handles complex, detail-driven projects. Originally created for computer software, this production process helped the Crowne Plaza Accelerate team reach the point to unveil what IHG’s VP of full-service hotels, Eric Lent, calls a “fully procured negotiated solution” to its Owners Association on time. As part of the Crowne Plaza Accelerate program, we announced our collaboration with Timo Weiland to create the “Momentum by Timo Weiland” fashion collection for our employees. Including pieces for both men and women of many different job types, the uniforms showcase a modern, upscale feel that echoes our redesigned interiors. It may be new, but our Plaza Workspace pilot is already making waves. Shown off in the Crowne Plaza Palo Alto in California’s Silicon Valley (the focus of the article), the pilot is among several significant changes that accompany Crowne Plaza Accelerate. “We’re re-inventing the brand,” Eric Lent, IHG’s vice president for full-service hotels and food and beverage solutions, told the Huffington Post. “This is a way for our guests to be more productive.” Read more about the exciting, upcoming changes observed by contributor Christopher Elliott.
